Recent accomplishments have included launching a five year contract for the new GEN III Cold Weather Clothing System for U.S. Military personnel, creating 240 new call center jobs in collaboration with AT&T and the U.S. Department of State, and breaking ground to construct Peckham’s new facility which will consolidate all of the Lansing-based manufacturing facilities and will meet future, growing needs.

Peckham, Inc. has received a special charter from Boy Scouts of America for servicing more than 60 adults with disabilities.  They were awarded a Michigan Rehabilitations Services grant to employ a dedicated, Assistive Technology position and have been chosen as the sole national contact center for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).

Position Description:

The Director of Manufacturing reports to the President and Chief Executive Officer and develops and directs the manufacturing operations, including setting it’s operational strategies for future growth. In addition, this position provides leadership to the production, cutting room, facilities, equipment, purchasing, materials resource planning, and quality units. Other responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring quality products are delivered on time to customers. 
  • Leading the division to reflect the highest standards of Lean Manufacturing and ISO Compliance. 
  • Reviewing daily work in progress and finished goods inventory, and establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing in cooperation with sales. 
  • Developing quality business plan reviews which convey operation’s status and goal attainment. 
  • Providing information for product pricing and ensuring accurate information on costs.
  • Providing effective collaboration with the design and prototype department, employing manufacturing input and transitional products from prototype to full production.
  • Utilizing a team approach for all projects.

 The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $105,000, and a full and comprehensive benefit package.

Qualifications:

Candidates interested in this position must have a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires a minimum of five years of business management experience with preference given to apparel industry experience. An MBA and engineering experience is preferred but not required.

Successful candidates must have high integrity, empathy for persons with disabilities, diplomacy, and possess proven results as a leader. Strong written, oral, and communication skills along with strong vision and strategic thinking skills are required. Working knowledge of Excel and MRP/ERP and Manufacturing systems are required.
