Pay Range: $85,000-$100,000

Position Responsibilities:
The Lansing Economic Area Partnership is looking for a highly experienced Vice President of Global Business Development with the credentials and leadership to help realize a vision that enables the Lansing region to achieve its economic growth objectives. This position operates in a high-profile role and must be capable of establishing and maintaining strong alliances with key business, public, education and economic development leaders in the region. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Vice President of Global Business Development will be responsible for the overall management of the Leap’s domestic and international business development by working with local companies and service providers on international opportunities.
 
Major Functions/Accountabilities:

• Development & management of global business development opportunities
  
  Developing an aggressive business attraction strategy for the region in conjunction with the regional strategic plan; developing and managing a sound process for sheparding deals through the region (coordination with all key players); communicating Leap’s business attraction strategies and accomplishments to all key constituents in the region; conducting regular best practices analyses to ensure that we are maximizing our ability to transform the region’s economy.

• Building & managing a business development pipeline
  
  Maintaining strong relationships with all key site selectors, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), Michigan State University (MSU), and all local partners; traveling (as appropriate) to key conferences and trade shows around the country to promote the Greater Lansing region and to secure new leads; working with all local partners to ensure that Leap’s processes for handling attraction opportunities are working effectively throughout the region.

Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree and a history of success in national & international business development endeavors. Must have appreciation for a non-profit operating environment, but with a private sector mentality.
Qualified candidates must have solid financial acumen with experience developing and managing budgets, and experience with building startups and strategic planning is preferred.
